Wednesday 6.00 - 7.30pm, Led & Self Practise Ashtanga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a traditional yoga practice linking the breath with body movement (vinyasa) and held postures (asanas). The Ashtanga practice is structured in sequence to build heat, increase energy, and focus attention gradually releasing bound tensions. Through daily practice impurities are removed from the mind and body. With discipline and devotion over time, the body becomes fit, strong, and flexible, energy flows freely, and the mind becomes free of distractions.
In a typical class students are led through the sun salutations, standing poses, some of the primary series seated poses, gentle backbends and finishing with relaxation. The vinyasa method, postures, breathing practice and bandhas are introduced. The opening and closing chants are also practiced.
Depending on the students in attendance and energy in the room, on some occasions the class structure varies - maybe ‘workshop’ a pose(s) and explore it more in depth or practise different sequences, such as a more yin style.
All levels are welcome as this class offers variations and modifications suitable for beginners. New students are encouraged to discuss their attendance with the teacher in advance if possible.

Joyce has practised yoga for over 20 years and been teaching for 10. She teaches weekly public yoga classes, offers private tuition and hosts workshops.
One to One yoga can be highly beneficial for those:
* new to yoga seeking individual attention
* with injury or illness
* during pregnancy, perhaps adapting a regular practice
* developing a home yoga practice
60 minute session is $100 for an individual / $120 for two people.
